"My parents ran the East African Jazz Society (I was born in Uganda and grew up in Malawi). We had some of the great jazz musician of all time come and stay with us – Louie Armstrong being one - and I continued to sing, my first degree was investigating Jazz Voice and Jazz History and my Masters in Devised Theatre looked at the representation of women’s bodies on stage (filmed, in the studio, live) using iconic 1950’s swing singers as the stimulus to explore my theoretical/practical enquiry. Enough of this… and so to Square Dance."
